I previously encountered the same issue with my Thorens TD 146 and a new belt fixed everything. Searching about Thorens here on ak will bring pics of replacement plinths that folks made that are more massive than the originals. This, I suspect, is a result of chassis flex happening under the stress of that seismic disturbance. My comments were based on the 2 that I have owned since 1967.
